Underwater photo guide

We’ve all been there; you go somewhere amazing, take loads of photos and come home to find that what you thought were going to be fantastic pictures are, in fact, awful.

With modern technology this can usually be avoided with things like live display screens etc. but the problem still persists in one specific area; the underwater photo.

We have created this quick guide to help you avoid the most common pitfalls and, hopefully, end up with some great photos from your next trip.

Our Top Tips

1. Avoid kicking up clouds of sand; it will turn paradise into a pool of murky water in a heartbeat.

2. Open your eyes! It won’t hurt you, and keeping them shut gives an eerie effect to your photos.

If opening you’re eyes is just not going to happen, take a tip from our friend Wahyu and FAKE IT…

3. Time group shots correctly.. need we say more?

”NOT ready!”                 ”…who said that?”

4. Watch your positioning; remember that some poses look just as dodgy underwater as they do above it.

5. Relax and smile!

An extra thing to add would be to attempt as much grace as possible; as you can see from the above, I have about as much natural underwater grace as a chicken. If you implement our five tips, we guarantee you’ll end up with  at least a few good pics to remember your trip!
